Quarterly Path of Travel Inspections
A quarterly path of travel inspection is a periodic check conducted every three months to ensure that routes designated for emergency evacuation, known as "paths of travel," are clear, unobstructed, and compliant with safety regulations. These inspections are crucial for maintaining a safe environment, particularly in the event of a fire or other emergency, by verifying that exit routes are easily accessible and free of hazards.
Annual Passive Inspections
An annual passive inspection is a yearly check of a building's passive fire protection systems to ensure they are functioning correctly and compliant with regulations. These inspections focus on systems that slow or impede the spread of fire without active intervention, such as fire-resistant walls, doors, and seals. The goal is to identify any defects or non-compliance issues and ensure the building's safety features are up to standard.
Annual Essential Safety Measure Report
The Regulations require the building owner to maintain essential safety measures so that they operate satisfactorily. There are different obligations under the Regulations, which depend on when the building was built or when building work occurred on the building. An AESMR is a crucial document that details all Essential Safety Measures (ESM) maintenance activities carried out within the preceding 12 months.
